The government is implementing projects to increase the housing facilities for its officials and employees from 8.0 per cent to 40 per cent, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said in the proposed budget for FY 2021-22.
The project has been taken following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Under the project, a total of 2,762 residential flats have been built in the previous fiscal year (FY21), while some 1,536 flats will be constructed across the country.
Besides, a plan has been undertaken to built 60,000 new residential flats in the Purbachal New Town and 8,400 residential apartments in Uttara Sector 18 to solve the housing problem in the Dhaka metropolitan area, the minister added.
