Malaysia's inflation, measured by consumer price index (CPI), declined 1.3 per cent year-on-year in July, official data showed Tuesday.
The Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the decrease in the overall index was attributed by the decline in transport; housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels; clothing and footwear; furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, reports Xinhua.
However, food and non-alcoholic beverages, which contributed 29.5 per cent of CPI weight, increased 1.4 per cent.
On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.7 per cent in July as compared to June.
Core index that excludes most volatile items of fresh food as well as administered prices of goods and services also rose 1.1 per cent year-on-year in July.
