Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has sought US$500 million as budgetary support from the World Bank to face the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister made the call on Monday night at a virtual meeting with World Bank's Vice President for the South Asia Region Hartwig Schafer.
They held the meeting as part of the ongoing spring meeting 2021 of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said a press release.
The minister also sought support for a proposed project, named 'Ecological Restoration Support to Rivers and Canals around Dhaka', for transportation, infrastructural development for river based tourism, and establishing good governance.
Mr Kamal thanked World Bank for supporting under a project named 'Programmatic Jobs Development Policy Credit (DPC)' and financing $500 million for vaccine procurement.
He also mentioned the launching of 23 incentives packages worth Tk 1.24 trillion to help people and industries recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
