The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday cleared a new project involving Tk 1.23 billion to create self-employment opportunities by expanding the activities of Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC).
The Ecnec also approved three other revised projects, raising their total cost by Tk 15.36 billion. The approval came from the 11th Ecnec meeting of the current fiscal year, held virtually with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reports UNB.
The Prime Minister and Planning Minister MA Mannan joined the meeting from Ganabhaban through a videoconference, while other Ecnec members were connected from NEC Bhaban.
“Today, four projects were approved at the meeting and the total estimated cost is Tk 16.59 billion. Among these, one is a new project and three are revised ones,” said MA Mannan at a press briefing.
Of the amount, Tk 7.4 billion will be borne from government funds, while the remaining Tk 9.19 billion would come as friendly assistance from the World Bank and KFW Development Bank of Germany, he said.
