The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday cleared six development projects involving Tk11.37 billion.
The approval came from the ECNEC meeting held at NEC Conference room in Dhaka with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters that the ECNEC endorsed the six projects where Tk 10.28 billion would be provided by the government from its own exchequer while the remaining Tk 1.08 billion from the external resources as the project aid.
Among the projects, four are fresh schemes and two others are revised ones.
The approved fresh projects are: Crops diversification at greater Mymensingh area at Tk 1.24 billion, Re-excavation of the Titas River (lower stream) at Titas and Homna upazila areas at Tk 762.5 million, Jamuna River’s bank protection works from erosion at Goghat and Khanabari areas under the Sundarganj and Gaibandha sadar upazila at Tk 4.02 billion, and Char development and settlement project-bridging (additional financing) of the BWDB portion project at Tk 2.63 billion.
The ECNEC revised the projects including Khulna shipyard road widening and development (1st revised) extending cost by Tk 1.32 billion to Tk 2.59 billion and the Land acquisition for constructing Langalbandh-Minarbari road on Langalbandh-Kaikartech highways project increasing cost by Tk 1.38 billion to Tk 2.60 billion.
Ministers, Planning Commission members and secretaries of the ministries concerned attended the ECNEC meeting.
