The ICT businesses called upon the government to allocate Tk 5.0 billion for ‘Technical Assistant’ (TA) project and Tk 2.0 billion as ICT development fund in the upcoming national budget.
A team of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) along with ICT business leaders placed the demand to Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal on Sunday and urged him to allocate the amount in the budget for the fiscal year 2019-20 (FY20).
BASIS urged the minister to earmark Tk 5.0 billion for ‘Technical Assistant’ (TA) project for enhancing the capacity of the local industry.
The national trade body for software also told the minister that TA project can also be used to help the underdeveloped countries.
BASIS further pointed out that although the ICT companies receive tax exemption certificate from National Board of Revenue (NBR) every year, they face difficulties in having credentials issued, therefore urged the minister to solve the problem without delay.
Director General of Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) Md. Ali Noor, BASIS Vice President (Admin) Shoeb Ahmed Masud and BASIS Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman, among others, were present at the event.
