The country's livestock-based industries have got a benefit in the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2019-20 (FY'20) which might help reduce prices of poultry and animal feeds.
Import duty and taxes on products like ammonia binder (feed grade), liver protector, renal protector, respiratory protector and vaccine stabilizer (thiosulphates) have been made zero from 5.0 to 10 per cent earlier.
Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) president Moshiur Rahman, said the government's such duty cut will definitely help minimise prices of poultry and animal feeds.
Most of the poultry farmers incurred huge losses in the last one year amid plummeting prices of poultry meat and eggs, he added
The duty cut will help the feed industries to reduce feed prices which might help the small scale farmers, he added.
