Here are some important features of the new national budget placed by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in Parliament on Thursday.

*Import volume now $58.9 billion

*Export volume $37 billion

*Foreign exchange reserve $33 billion

*Investment 31.5 per cent of GDP

*Private sector investment $70.8 billion

*Debt-GDP ratio 32 per cent

*Infant mortality (per 1,000 live births) rate 24

*Life expectancy at birth 72.8 years

*Literacy rate 72.9 per cent

*Power generation capacity 21,629
