Bangladesh Bank has released monetary policy review after six years, reviewing the central bank’s monetary policy stance for the current fiscal year (FY21).
The latest monetary policy review is dated as of December 2020. It was posted on the central bank's website on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Bank last published the review document in February 2014.
The central bank initiated the publication of monetary policy review in October of 2005. It was published mostly on a half-yearly basis until 2014 and then discontinued for six years.
The Chief Economist’s Unit (CEU) of the central bank is responsible for preparing and publishing the research work.
The newly released monetary policy review provides a macroeconomic and monetary policy outlook for the near and medium-term.
Its volume also includes four research papers. These are (1) Inflation trend and persistence in Bangladesh: an empirical analysis; (2) Foreign exchange market structure and exchange rate volatility in Bangladesh; (3) Estimating the neutral interest rate for Bangladesh; and (4) Movements of residential prices in Bangladesh: an empirical analysis.
