Unemployed youths are getting training and financial supports as government aims to make Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021.
After getting training on various topics, youths can get loan up to Tk 150,000 for their self-employment.
The youth and sports ministry also offers up to 1 million for entrepreneurship in cooperation with the government owned Karmasangsthan Bank.
Youth and Sports Minister Biren Sikder came up with the efforts of government while addressing a programme on Tuesday.
Actionaid Bangladesh organised the programme titled ‘increasing investment, young people leading transformation’ at the Lakeshore Hotel of Gulshan in Dhaka.
The state minister also mentione the ‘national service programme’ which is primarily applied for seven Upazilas.
Actionaid's county director Farah Kabir urged the government to provide more financial support for the youth’s employment.
Director General of NGO Affairs Bureau K. M. Abdus Salam, International centre for climate change and development director Saleemul Haque, DANIDA's head of development cooperation Peter Bough also spoke at the event among others.
