Int’l Customs Day Jan 26

Bangladesh Customs is going to celebrate the International Customs Day 2019 on January 26.

The day will be observed along with a total of 183 member countries of the World Customs Organisation (WCO).

The WCO is dedicating 2019 to the swift and smooth cross-border movement of goods, people and means of transport, with the slogan "SMART (Secure, Measurable, Automated, Risk Management Based and Technology Driven), borders for seamless Trade, Travel and Transport."

However, the organization members will have the opportunity to showcase and further promote use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the customs procedures on the occasion.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will celebrate the day in Dhaka and different customs offices across the country, NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said on Thursday at a press conference at his office in the capital, reports UNB.

A colourful rally will be brought out in the morning on the day. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Md. Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), among others, are expected to attend the rally.
