Bangladesh and Vietnam agreed to explore the potentials of the geographical location, natural resources and prospective labour market of the two countries for mutual benefits.
President of the South-Asia country Tran Dai Quang said it on Sunday in a joint press statement, following a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.
“We’ve agreed to further strengthen the 45 years diplomatic ties and put importance to unlocking immense potentials on geographical location, natural bounties, youth population and huge market," he said.
Quang also said both sides reiterated to maintain traditional friendship between the two countries and expressed their delight at the encouraging progress in bilateral ties, reports UNB citing the statement.
Moreover, he said the two sides agreed to find suitable measures to create breakthrough and add greater depth, substance and efficiency to their relations.
On economic, trade and investment cooperation, Dai Quang said they agreed to encourage and widen business activities, study and tap each other’s potentials and propose prospective measures to boost bilateral trade and investments.
About cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock and fisheries, the two countries need to work closely in mutual support and consider establishment of joint venture association and production change, he said.
On defence and security cooperation, he said they agreed to explore cooperation on each other’s needs and capabilities.
Immediate attention would be given to the areas of defence industry as well as enhance cooperation in participation at the peace keeping operations.
About South China Sea issue, Quang said as members of the 1982 UNCLOS, the two sides agreed to work closely to ensure the freedom of navigation and peaceful settlement of all international disputes, including territorial and maritime disputes in accordance with the international law.
