The government has started a process to collect an additional $1.5 billion as budgetary support to tackle future emergencies and economic crises due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the information in a written answer to a question from a lawmaker during PM’s question-answer session in the parliament on Wednesday, report UNB and BSS.
Out of the targeted $1.5 billion budgetary support, the prime minister said, $1.0 billion will be collected to tackle future emergencies due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
This budget support will be spent on the stimulus package for industries, factories, trading organisations, and small and medium entrepreneurs as well as a social safety net, she said.
Besides, the rest $500 million will be arranged to tackle the economic crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she added.
