35 NRBs get CIP status

Thirty five Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRB) have been given Commercially Important Person (CIP) status for their outstanding contribution in Bangladesh economy.

Of them, 29 were given CIP status for remitting the highest amount of foreign currencies and six others for importing products in Bangladesh, reports UNB.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam handed over the CIP cards at Abacus Convention Centre in city's Easkaton area, as a chief guest, on Tuesday.

According to the report made in 2016, 13 were elected from UAE, six from Oman, three each from UK and Qatar and one each from Australia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong.

The minister said the Bangladeshi expatriates are playing a role in the overall development of the country and the CIPs can contribute in solving the problems of expatriates.
