Asian Paints paints walls in city on ‘Independence Day’

Asian Paints Bangladesh has painted walls in the capital, as part of its ‘Wall of Independence’ initiative, on the occasion of the Independence Day.

The objective of the initiative was to instil the spirit of independence and let the youth express the essence and their interpretation of independence in colours, says a media release.

As part of the initiative, over 30 students from Dhaka University, Jagannath University and University of Development Alternative (UODA) painted a long stretch of walls at three prime locations in the capital- Airport Road, Banani; Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of Dhaka University, and Moghbazar-Eskaton joint road.

“Art has always been a medium for both artists and non-artists alike to express themselves,” Ritesh Doshi, General Manager of Asian Paints Bangladesh, said.

“Paintings can help people express emotions in a way that words and actions fail to. So, we wanted the youth to put their thoughts and ideas about independence through colours,” he added.

Each of the painting reflected the essence of independence, and how it relates to the present socio-cultural context, said the press release.

As the group of youths painted the wall, it created an opportunity for the people to interact with the painters and share their perspectives. And for the young painters, the painted walls depict freedom and hope, it said.
