The World Car Free Day will be observed in the country and elsewhere in the globe on Tuesday with the theme ‘back to walking and cycling for livable cities’.

Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) in collaboration with 60 others government and non-government agencies have chalked out various programmes to make the day a success.

Addressing a press conference prior to the day at DTCA office, DTCA executive director said due to corona virus pandemic, regular programme at Manik Mia avenue will not be held this year.

But he said different online programmes, including discussion and essay writing competitions, will be held centring the day.

The ED said since the government decided to observe September 22 as the World Car Free Day in the country like other developing and developed countries, the DTCA has been celebrating the day with growing number of organisations. A Facebook profile frame has also been created to get people’s opinion on stopping using private car, he added

On the day, a webinar will be held on Tuesday along with distribution of poster, leaflet and festoons.
