The gloomy weather is likely to improve gradually from Monday but the light to moderate rain caused by the depression in the Bay may continue over the country till Sunday, says a met bulletin.
"The rain triggered by the depression in the Bay will continue till tomorrow and the weather will start to improve gradually from Monday," Abdur Rahman, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (MBD), said.
However, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three, he said.
"The depression, over north West Bay And adjoining area, is likely to move in a north or northeasterly," he added.
It (the depression) over north west bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northeastwards further over the same area (near lat19.5on and long 86.5oe) and was centred at 12 noon today about 660 kms southwest of Chittagong Port, 645 kms southwest of Cox's Bazar Port, 475 kms south-southwest of Mongla Port and 505 kms south-southwest of Payra Port, said Met Office.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
Light to moderate rain or showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country till 9 am tomorrow, said a met office press release.
Night temperature may fall slightly and day temperature may fall by 1-2 degree Celsius over the country.
Maximum temperature was recorded 30.2 degree celsius yesterday at Teknaf in Chittagong divisions respectively and today's minimum temperature 12.3 degree celsius at Tetulia in Sylhet Rangpur division.
The sun sets at 5:12 pm today and rises at 6:30 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
