The International Crimes Tribunal will deliver the verdict on five alleged Patuakhali war criminals, including Ishaq Sikder, on Monday.
They were accused of killing 17 people, committing 15 rapes, vandalism, arson, abduction and torture in the Itabaria village area of Patuakhali during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
A three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal, led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam, announced on Sunday that the verdict will be decided on Monday.
Both sides had completed their arguments on May 30.
Aside from Ishaq Sikder, the four other suspects are Abdul Gani Haolader, Abdul Awal alias Moulabi Aowal, Abdus Sattar Peyda and Solayman Mridha. They have been in jail since being arrested, bdnews24 reported.
According to the prosecution, all of them were supporters of the Muslim League in 1971, but they were involved with the local wing of the BNP at the time of their arrests in 2015.
