United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Executive Director and Under-Secretary-General Dr Natalia Kanem will arrive in Dhaka on Monday on a four-day visit.
During her first visit to Bangladesh as Executive Director of UNFPA, she will engage in conversations on Bangladesh’s current maternal health, family planning, adolescent and youth, gender equality and population issues.

Dr Kanem became UNFPA head in October 2017 with the rank of United Nations Under-Secretary-General.
During her brief visit, she will meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim and Foreign Affairs Minister AH Mahmood Ali.
She will also have consultative meetings with UN agencies, development partners, civil society and media to share her views on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming 25th year of the International Conference on Population and Development.
She will also visit Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camps and meet with Rohingya women and girls at UNFPA-supported reproductive health clinics and Women Friendly Spaces, reports UNB.
