Two people, including a teacher of United International University (UIU), drowned in the Sangu River of Rumaupazila in Bandarban on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Santanu Sarkar, 25, teacher of UIU, and his friend Md Jonayed Ehsan, 35, resident of Mohakhali in Dhaka.
Witnesses said the duo along with their two other friends were returning to Ruma Bazar after visiting Boga Lake in Bandarban. On their way, the visitor stopped at Baruapara of Ruma for taking bath on Sangu River.
While taking bath, the duo went missing in the noon. Later, local fishermen and divers recovered the bodies.
The tourists went to Bandarban on March 22, reports UNB.
