A court in Dhaka on Monday placed two drivers and two helpers of a 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' bus on a 7-day remand each in a case filed over the death of two college students in a road accident on Airport Road in the city on July 29.

Those remanded are drivers Sohagh Ali and Mohammad Zubayer and helpers Enayet Hossain and Mohammad Ripon.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate HM Toaha passed the order after hearing on a remand petition.

Earlier on July 31, the court sent them to jail in the case when they were produced before the court seeking a 10-day remand prayer.

The court, however, fixed August 6 (today) for hearing on the remand petition, reports UNB.

Earlier on July 30, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the two drivers and two helpers from different parts of the capital in connection with the accident.

Another driver, Masum Billah, who was immidiately arrested after the occurance, was driving the bus that ploughed into a group of students waiting for transport at Kurmitola on Sunday, killing two and injuring several others.

Police took Masum into their custody on Wednesday (August 1) for grilling in a case started by one of the victim’s father.

Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul KarimRajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as a bus ploughed through a group of students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road on July 29 which spared off massive student protests across the country.

A case was filed over the accident on Sunday night.
