A tribunal in Dhaka has sent a convict, who was sentenced to life term imprisonment in the sensational Biswajit Das murder case, to jail.
Earlier, the convict, former Bangladesh Chhatra League activist Tarique Bin Zohor alias Tamal, surrendered before the court on Monday, reports UNB.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar of Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 passed the order after Tamal turned up before the court remaining absconding for over five and half years and sought bail.
On December 18, 2013, the same tribunal sentenced eight BCL activists to death and 13 others, including Tamal, to life imprisonment in the Biswajit Das killing case.
On December 9, 2012, tailoring shop employee Biswajit was chopped to death by some BCL activists near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka during the BNP-led Alliance's countrywide road blockade programme.
