President Md Abdul Hamid hosted a reception on the Eid day at Bangabhaban for the people of all classes and professions, including distinguished people, senior politicians, higher-ranking government officials, foreign diplomats, religious personalities, academics, editors, senior journalists and representatives of the business community.
During the reception, the President sent his Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh and called upon them to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity, report agencies.
Addressing the guests, President Hamid said tolerance will build a happy society.
A peaceful and harmonious society is only possible through mutual respect and tolerance, he said.
“Humanity is the key message of religion,” he added.
Hamid greeted people from various classes and professions at the Eid-ul-Azha reception.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar and Prime Minister’s Adviser HT Imam attended the event.
Various diplomats, including Diplomatic Corps Dean and Vatican Ambassador George Kocherry and outgoing US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, as well as the cabinet secretary, the heads of the armed forces and various civil and military officials attended the event.
Leaders from different political parties, including Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain, members of parliament, educationists and business leaders were also present.
