Three people were awarded death sentence in a case filed over the murder of a child in Mymensingh in 2011.
The Mymensingh Additional Sessions Judge’s Court announced the verdict on Tuesday.
The death row convicts are Akbar Ali, 40, Akram Hossain, 35, and Tanvir Hassan Anis, 32.
Akbar and Tanvir were present to hear the verdict, while Akram is at large.
State counsel Sanjib Sarkar Sanju said each of the convicts were also fined Tk 50,000. They will have to stay six months in jail in failure to pay the fine.
According to case details, the suspects hacked 13-year-old Sujon, also known as Cheton Pandit, to death over the sale of a mobile phone on August 30, 2011.
The body was later found by a local pond.
A bdnews24.com report says, the next day Sujon’s father Khokon Pandit filed a case over the murder, accusing the three people.
The court indicted the three on March 3, 2012 after an investigation report was submitted.
