At least three passengers were killed falling from the train roof after it was derailed at Tongi in Gazipur on Sunday.
The details about the deceased could not be known immediately.
Kamalapur Government Railway Police (GRP) said a Dhaka-bound ‘Commuter Train’ from Jamalpur derailed in the area, leaving three of its passengers who were travelling on its roof dead on the spot.
The accident also snapped the rail communication of Dhaka with others parts of the country, excluding Narayanganj.
Meanwhile, according to UNB, Railways Minister Mujibul Haque went to visit the spot.
“I have heard four people were killed falling from train roof after being panicked following the derailment of a bogy of the train,” the minister told reports at his secretariat office just after the accident.
