DC conference begins Sunday

The annual conference of the deputy commissioners (DCs), a meeting of the heads of districts with policy makers of the government, will be held in the capital city on July 24-26.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the three-day conference at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), additional secretary of the cabinet division Faruk Ahmed said.

Mr Ahmed said the cabinet division organises the DC conference every year, aimed to gear up grassroots administration, accelerate development activities of the government, analyse and evaluate the government’s policy execution at grassroots level.

The cabinet division holds direct view-exchange meeting between the government’s policymakers and DCs, he said.

Noting that the DC conference is a very important programme of the state, the official said an open discussion with the prime minister usually takes place and the premier gives a patient hearing of different problems of the DCs across the country and gives them necessary directives.

Ministers, advisers, state ministers, deputy ministers, senior secretaries and secretaries concerned will attend the DC conference. Cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam will preside over the programme.
