Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Khandker Mosharraf Hossain feels this new year is very important for achieving the country’s overall development goals.
"We've gained remarkable progress in implementation of the 2021 Vision announced by Sheikh Hasina. We'll be able to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2018 if we work sincerely," he said.
According to UNB, the LGRD Minister made the remark on Monday while exchanging the New Year greetings with his ministry's officials at the conference room of Local Government Division, said a PID handout.
Mosharraf said, "We need to work fast to implement the mega projects this year. It'll have to expedite development in poverty alleviation, education and health sectors."
Pointing at the officials, he said the share of his ministry is 80 per cent in the country's development activities.
"So, your integrity and sincerity will play a crucial role in fulfilling the Vision 2021," the minister added.
Rural Development and Cooperative Division Secretary Mafruha Sultana, Local Government Division acting Secretary Ikramul Haque, LGED Chief Engineer Abul Kalam Azad and Director General of Cooperatives Department Abdul Majid and other high officials were present.
