A suspected thief was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Rail Bazar in Chuadanga district town in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain, 22, son of Abu Bakar Siddiqi.
Abu Zihal Fakhrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said locals caught a number of youths while they were reportedly stealing goods from shops in the bazar at around 3am.
They gave Faruk a tremendous thrashing while others managed to flee the scene, UNB reported citing the official.
On information, police rescued Faruk and admitted him to Sadar Hospital where he died.
Later, police arrested two of the suspected thieves.
