Bangladesh Trading Corporation (TCB) on Sunday began its commodity selling programme throughout the country including the capital ahead of the holy Ramadan at subsidised prices.
Under the programme, the TCB will sell 2000 tonne sugar, 2000-3000 tonne red lentil, 2000 tonne soya bean oil, 2000 tonne chick-pea and 100 tonne dates through 184 mobile trucks at all the divisional cities and district headquarters across the country.
In addition to this, the TCB will sell their products through 2,784 dealers and its 10 own retail selling centres all over the country.
"We have procured adequate products as per the demand of the holy Ramadan as the demand of these products remains high during the month," said Mohammad Ruhul Amin Khan, Director (Clearing, Movement and Sales-CMS and Distribution) of TCB.
The products will be sold at 32 spots in the capital, 10 spots in Chittagong division, five spots in other divisional cities and two spots in all the district headquarters across the country.
The TCB has fixed per kilogram price of sugar at Tk 55, red lentil at Tk 55, chick-pea at Tk 70 and dates at Tk 120, while per litre Soyabean oil at Tk 85.
Each truck will sell 300-400 kilograms of sugar, of red lentil, of soyabean oil and of chick-pea and 30-50 kg dates every day.
A dealer will get an allocation of 500-700 kg sugar, 300-600 kg red-lentil, 300-500 kg soyabean oil and 500-700kg chick-pea for a day.
One consumer can buy maximum 4 kg sugar and 4 kg red lentil, 5 liter edible oil and 5 kg chick-pea and 1 kg dates.
The TCB products will be sold at 32 different spots in the capital which includes secretariat gate, press club, Kaptan Bazar, Victoria Park, science lab intersection, new market-Nilkhet intersection, Shaymoli-Kalyanpur, Jigatola intersection, Khamarbari at Farmgate, Kalmilata Bazar, Rajanigandha Super Market at Kachukhet in Dhaka Cantonment, Agargaon Taltola and Election Commission Office, Rajlaxmi complex Uttara, Mirpur-1 Mazar Road, Shantinagar Bazar, Malibagh Bazar, Basabo Bazar, Ideal School Banasree, Bangladesh Bank Chattar, Mohakhali kitchen market, Shewrapara bazar, Dainik Bangla intersection, Shahjanpur bazar, Fakirapool bazar and Ideal zone, Mothijheel Bok chattar, Khilgaon Taltola bazar, Rampura bazar, Mirpur-10 gol chattar, Ashkona Haji camp Uttara, Mohammadpur townhall kitchen market, Dilkusha and Madartek Nandipara (in front of Krishi Bank), reports BSS.
