A case was filed against him on December 17 following the occurrence of insulting the education official whom the mayor slapped.
Earlier on December 16, the mayor along with his companions went to the local Shaheed Minar on Dewanganj Govt High School premises to place wreaths when the education official was announcing names of different organisations according to the list.
But, the mayor became angry when the name of the municipality came at number five.
For this reason, at one stage, Shahanshah slapped the education official amid a huge public gatherings.
On December 21, the Local Government Division (LGD) suspended Shahanshah from his mayoral post while the ruling Awami League (AL) also excluded him from the party.
