A suspected member of banned militant outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir was arrested from Charail area of Keraniganj on Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Riaz Uddin Sepai, 35, a member of Dhaka District (South) of the militant group and son of Alauddin Sepai of Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur district, police officials said.
Tipped off, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit conducted a drive in the area and arrested Riaz at around 9:00 pm, said Anisur Rahman, inspector of CTTC.
Some sharp weapons, huge jihadi books, and leaflets were seized from his possession, according to a news agency report.
A case has been filed in this connection.
