A suspected drug pedlar was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Rautha village in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Fazlul Haque alias Fazlu, 48, son of Wahab Munshi and an accused in 10 drug cases.
A press release signed by senior assistant superintendent of Police Abdur Razzak Khan, said that, being tipped off over a gunfight between two groups of drug traders at the village at around 1:45 am over establishing supremacy, a team of police rushed to the spot.
Police opened 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control, UNB reported.
The drug traders also attacked police, leaving four policemen, including officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station, injured, the press release said.
Later, police recovered Fazlul's bullet hit body from the spot and seized a foreign pistol, a magazine, one-round of bullet and 55 bottles Indian Phensedyl.
