Drivers and their assistants are suffering immensely as at least 400 good-laden trucks remain stuck at Paturia-Daulatdia ferry terminal due to the strong current of the Padma river, according to officials.
Apart from this, more than 35 passenger buses and 50 small vehicles are now waiting at the terminal as they were moving slowly until the filing of the report at around 6:30 pm on Thursday.
Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury, assistant general manager(commerce) at Aricha zone office of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), informed this to the Financial Express.
The vehicles are standing in the long queue on the route, he pointed out.
Sixteen ferries are now operational on the route, Nasir mentioned.
