Standing committee for settlement of eight audit objections of LGED

The parliamentary standing committee on the public accounts Thursday discussed the audit objections of the audit report 2004-2013 of LGED of the local government, rural development and cooperatives ministry and recommended settlement of the audit objections.

In the meeting the committee discussed eight audit objections raised by Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh on the professional fee of the LGED, according to BSS.

About the audit objection on professional fees collected from seven projects and bank interest on the fees, the committee recommended settlement of the objection in line with the suggestion of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh within the seven working days.

About the audit objection on spending Tk 116 million out of organogram from the professional fees for purchasing three motor vehicles, the committee mentioned that it was a violation of the law relating to taking prior permission from the finance ministry for spending public money and recommended settlement of the objection within the 15 working days.

Committee chairman Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir presided over the meeting while its members Md Abdus Shahid, Mohammad Amanullah, Md Rustam Ali Faraji, Md Afsarul Amin, Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, Rebeka Momin and Begum Wasika Ayesha Khan attended it.

LGED and Cooperatives ministry secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan and high officials of the audit office, LGED and the parliament were present.
