The National Sports Council Bill, 2018 was placed in Parliament on Monday with a view to making the existing law more time-befitting.
State Minister for Youth and Sports (Independent Charge) Dr Biren Sikder placed the bill in the House and it was sent to the respective scrutiny committee for further examination. The committee was asked to submit its report within 30 days.
According to the bill, there will be a National Sports Council and Youth and Sports Minister will be the chairman of the council. This council will hold at least one meeting a year, reports BSS.
There will be a 19-member executive committee for four years where chairman of the council will lead it. This executive committee will hold at least one meeting in every three months.
