The commuters in the capital suffered immensely on Wednesday due to snarl on almost all thoroughfares and important roads throughout the city areas.
The traffic congestions have been deteriorating in the city for the last few days. However, the situation turned from bad to worse on the day.
Public and private sector officials, patients, and students of schools, colleges and universities had to face a lot of troubles while going to their respective destinations amid unbearable traffic jam.
Commuters on board public buses, private cars, motorcycles, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws were stranded in different areas, including Jatrabari, Gulistan, Purana Paltan, Shahbagh, Jigatola, Mohakhali, Banani, Khilkhet, Azampur (Uttara) and other important places of the city.
Many of them said that they had to spend several hours to reach their destinations.
"I had to spend four hours to reach at my Motijheel office from my Uttara, Dhaka residence," Md Sabbir, private service holder told the FE.
He said he had been unable to reach his office on time for the last two days due to the traffic jam although he set out early from his residence.
Another passenger who identified himself by only one name, Masud, said it took him two hours to reach Khilkhet from Tongi Station Road.
