Smart City Week 2017 will begin on November 22 in the capital to make people aware about developing a smart cities and the ways of living there.
UNDP Bangladesh, Access to Information (a2i) Programme at the Prime Minister's Office and urban sector stakeholders are jointly organising the event.
First ever Smart City Week will be inaugurated through a three day (November 22-24) Smart City Innovation Hub at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in Dhaka.
It will continue till November 28 at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in Dhaka with the theme ‘Smart City Smart People’, said a UNDP press release on Monday.
However, a cycle rally with the theme ‘Ride Smart, Live Smart’ will kick off the campaign on November 18.
Government and non-government agencies, city corporations, municipalities, public and private universities, urban experts and social entrepreneurs will present their views and plans for developing smart cities.
The organisers also plans to showcase innovative ideas that make cities people-friendly and contribute towards urban development by offering affordable and efficient services.
A BSS report says, partner organisations for "Smart City Week 2017" include BUET, Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP), Bengal institute of Architects, Landscapes and Settlements, Preneur Lab and some social organisations.
