Ferry services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route resumed after three hours of disruption caused by thick fog on Wednesday morning.
The ferry services suspended at 6:00am due to poor visibility caused by dense fog and resumed at 9am with the disappearance of fog, said Shah Newaz Khaled, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia station.
UNB said five ferries with a good number of vehicles and passengers on board remained stuck in the middle of the river.
Besides, hundreds of passengers were suffering as buses, private cars, microbuses and goods-laden trucks, are waiting on both sides of the river to cross it, said the BIWTC official.
