State Minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam has ruled out any possibility of getting fresh sanctions from the US against any individual or organisation in Bangladesh.
"Certainly not," he told reporters while responding to questions on fear of any fresh sanction referring to a recent directive that was sent to all Bangladesh foreign missions from the foreign ministry, according to BSS.
The junior minister termed the directives to Bangladesh envoys as a routine task to uphold Dhaka's interest and professionalism abroad.
Dhaka would raise its demand for the withdrawal of sanctions imposed on the elite force, Rapid Action Bangladesh (RAB), during the upcoming visit of Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu in Dhaka next week, he added.
"As long as, we are transparent and they (US) receive it with good intention, there is no scope for any ambiguity (between Bangladesh and US)," Alam continued.
During the visit of the US Assistant Secretary of State here, he said, Dhaka's first intention would be to take Bangladesh-US relations to a new height with good intentions and better understanding.
