Series of Narsingdi road mishaps claim nine lives

Nine people were killed in three road accidents in Raipura and Madhabdi upazilas on Friday.

In Raipura, four motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit their motorbike on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Charabagh in the morning.
 

The deceased were identified as Ramjan Miah, 17, son of Asad Choukidar, Dalim Miah, 14, son of Hafizuddin, Sohagh Miah, 18, son of Sharif Miah of Morjal in Raipura upazila, and bike driver Yamin, 25, of Putia in Shibpur upazila.
 

Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound bus from Bhairab smashed the bike carrying four people around 8:10 am, leaving all the riders killed on the spot.
 

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue, reports UNB.

In Madhabdi, three people -- a rickshaw-puller, a passenger and a pedestrian -- were killed as a Habiganj-bound bus losing control over its wheel pushed a rickshaw from behind on Dhaka-Habiganj highway in front of Birampur Palli Bidyut office around 1:30pm.
 

The deceased were identified as rickshaw-puller Ilias Ali, 32, passenger Ratan Miah, 45, and pedestrian Makbul Miah, 40.

Meanwhile, a couple was killed when a private car hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Panchdona area around 3:30pm.

The deceased were Aminul Haque, 35, and his wife Mansura Begum, 30, said Ilias Miah, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station.
