People in most parts of the country including the capital Dhaka are witnessing scorching heat as a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore and Chuadanga and it may continue.
An official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) told The Financial Express that the people in the capital felt excruciating and unbearable heat as the humidity rate was recorded at 89 per cent.
However, the BMD also forecasted that light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Trough of low extended from Bihar to Gangetic West Bengal persists, it said, adding that monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
In its outlook for the next 72 hours, it said rain/thundershowers activity may increase.
