Thousands flocked around Shyamoli, Kalyanpur and Gabtoli bus terminals to book advance tickets as private bus services started selling tickets on Wednesday.
According to the private bus operators, a big demand of advance tickets for June 13h and 14 is persistent as June 14 is the last working day before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Huge crowd were witnessed at the bus counters mainly in Shyamoli, Kalyanpur and Gabtoli with rush from morning to noon on the day, said bus operators.
Shariff Hossain, a private job holder told to FE that June 14 is his last office before the Eid, and he is waiting in queue at Kalyanpur since the morning for hours to collect advance bus ticket.
A private bus counter official said most people were looking for tickets for June 14 because of the day is the last office before Eid.
Private bus operators are struggling to provide tickets for June 13 and 14, he added.
Earlier, the decision of selling advance tickets from Wednesday (May 30) was taken in a meeting of top officials of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners Association.
Besides, the Bangladesh Railway announced to begin sale of advance train tickets ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr from June 1.
