Rising trade boosts BD, Nepal relations: Envoy

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Professor Dr Chop Lal Bhusal has said diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Nepal are gradually being strengthened with a rising volume of trading between the two countries, reports BSS.

The envoy made the assertion while addressing a discussion here on Wednesday night as the chief guest.

Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised the event participated by RCCI executives, importers and exporters, industrialists and business persons.

Bhushal said, ""Nepal is one of the leading countries which awarded recognition to independent Bangladesh at the very beginning”. He said the two neighbouring countries are closely cooperating each other on various issues in the international arena.

Acting president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripan delivered the welcome speech putting stress on enhancing bilateral trade between the two neighbours and removing some hurdles, including tariff barriers to Bangladeshi export items.

"Improving infrastructures and establishing transshipment yard at Kakorvita Land Port in Nepal could ensure best use of the Banglabandha-Fulbari-Kakorvita route for export-import activities," he said.

Deputy Chief of Mission at Nepal Embassy Dhan Bahadur Oli delivered a presentation on 'Enhancing Bilateral Trade between Bangladesh and Nepal' to attract Bangladeshi business community.

President of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries and a former FBCCI Vice-president Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu urged the authorities concerned to remove trade barriers for allowing Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to invest in the prospective sectors in Nepal.
