Govt Titumir College student Rajib Hasan, who lost his battle for life on Wednesday, has been laid to eternal rest at Dashpara village in Bauphal upazila under Patuakhali.
He was buried at a graveyard of the village of his maternal grandfather at around 9:45am after a namaz-e-janaza around 9:15 am on Wednesday.
The first namaj-e-janaza of the body that reached the village around 2:45, was held on the premises of the High Court in Dhaka city.
On April 3, Rajib, a 2nd year student, was going to college by a double-decker BRTC bus. He was standing on the rear gate dangling his right hand outside as the bus was overcrowded.
As another bus tried to make its way through the narrow space in between the BRTC bus and the footpath, Rajib's right hand was pressed in between the buses and got severed from the elbow.
Being rescued, the victim was first taken to MH Samorita Hospital at Panthapath and then shifted to the DMCH.
His condition worsened on April 10 and ever since been kept on life support at the Intensive Care Unit of DMCH. He was put off life support at around 12:40 on Tuesday as doctors lost hope on him.
Dr Pradip Biswas who conducted the autopsy said, “There’s no major injury to his hand. But there are blood clots in the brain and a portion of skull was broken due to the accident.”
Rajib, son of late Helal Uddin of Indrakul village in Bauphal, lost his parents in his early age. Since then, he had been the guardian of his two younger brothers.
