Heavy rainfall afternoon caused waterlogging at different parts of the city on Sunday, disrupting public life.
Met office recorded 44 millimetres of rainfall between 1.00 am to 6.00 pm on the day.
An official said the rainfall was due to active monsoon and forecast frequent rainfall in the capital for several more days.
"The city dwellers may witness frequent moderate shower next couple of days," Sarwar Alom at the met office told the FE.
Heavy shower is expected at places over the other parts of the country today (Monday), a met office circular said. "Due to very heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions."
According to met office data, maximum temperature in the capital slightly decreased to 31.5 degree Celsius on Sunday from 34.0 degree Celsius on previous day.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.0 degree Celsius on the day, similar to that of the previous day.
Meanwhile, the abrupt spells of rain have come down as a respite from the sweltering heat in one hand and on the other it caused sufferings to many city dwellers.
Some places in the city including Mirpur, Dhanmondi road no. 27, Green Road and old part of Dhaka witnessed water logging for several hours.
People from various strata of life, including businessmen and school-goers, remained stuck in their respective workplaces and transports en route to their destinations.
Meanwhile, the city almost returned to its usual appearance, following the Eid-holiday mood witnessed last week.
The vehicular movement disrupted to some extent in many areas including Mirpur, Farmgate, Kawranbazar, Gulistan and old part of Dhaka.
