People in most parts of the country including Dhaka may witness rain or thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning flashes in the next 24-hour as the low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining area intensified into a well marked low, according to a Met office bulletin.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) 24-hour bulletin starting from 9 am on Saturday said rain or thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka & Chattogram divisions.
The low pressure area now lies over Southeast Bay and adjoining South Andaman Sea, it said, adding that it is likely to intensify further and move in a Northwesterly direction.
Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, the forecast said.
The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country,
Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.
In its next 72-hour outlook, it said rainfall activity may increase over coastal areas.
