RAB proposes suspension of mobile banking in Cox's Bazar

Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed has proposed to suspend all mobile banking transactions in Cox's Bazar for two months.

The RAB DG made the proposal while addressing the anti-narcotics programme at media centre of the elite force at Karwan Bazar area in Dhaka on Sunday.

Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan was also present at the programme as chief guest, report local news agencies.

Expressing deep concern, RAB DG said they are getting report of huge amount of transactions through mobile banking in the district.

 “Only 2.3 million people live in Cox’s Bazar. There is no industries or factories in the district," Benazir said.

"We have reasonable suspicion that these transactions are connected with drug trading," he said.

The RAB chief requested the home minister to close all Cox’s Bazar-bound mobile banking services for at least two months till for proper investigation.
