Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 11 foreign nationals near a Rohingya refugee camp at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
The law enforcers claimed that the arrestees did not have any passport, reports bdnews24.com.
The elite force later handed the foreigners to the police for questioning, Ukhia Police Station OC Md Abul Khayer told the news agency.
A RAB patrol team stopped the foreigners on suspicion in front of a relief centre near Ukhia Degree College around 2:30pm, said the police official.
“They were detained as they could not show their passports. We are questioning them now,” he added.
The detained foreigners include two from the UK and Italy each, and one each from the Netherlands, Turkey, South Korea, Kenya, Brazil, Belgium and Norway.
