Publishers want reconsideration of Ekushey stall allocation by January 11

A section of the publishers have protested against, what they said, discriminatory stall allocation policy ahead of this year’s Ekushey Book Fair.

A number of publishing houses, including BehulaBangla, Megh, Tapurtupur and Kharimati, jointly organised a press conference in this regard on Tuesday at the Concord Emporium, Katabon in the capital to raise their voice.

The publishers also set a deadline for the authorities concerned to reconsider the prevailing stall allocation policy by January 11.

Otherwise, they said, a memorandum to this end will be submitted to the prime minister on January 13.

The protesting publishers said they’re placing the demand in view of the ensuing Ekushey Book Fair-2018 in a bid to help remove discriminatory stall allocation.

Among others, Behulabangla proprietor Chandan Chowdhury, poet Ahmed Shiplu, Mahfuz Ripon, Mahbub Mitra and Girish Goiric were present at the press conference.
