Protesters set traffic police’s motorbike on fire

A group of people has attacked a traffic police sergeant and set his motorbike on fire at the Science Laboratory intersection in Dhaka on Thursday during a student campaign for safe roads.

Some students stopped officer Bayezid and wanted to see his driving licence, but he refused to do so and misbehaved with them, says a student of Eastern University.

At one point, the police sergeant pushed and shoved one of the students, which angered other protesters, reports bdnews24.com.

As more protesters arrived, he tried to run for safety. The protesters then beat him.

After the injured officer was led away from the scene, the angry protesters set his motorbike on fire. The incident created tensions in the area, witnesses said.
